Christopher's Story

When Christopher Roberts walked into our dental center, he wasn’t just carrying years of pain in his teeth — he was carrying fear, anxiety, and the weight of not knowing how he could ever afford the care he desperately needed.

A 50 year-old father from Southwest Virginia, he had always worked hard and put his family first.

But years of untreated dental issues—abfractions and severe grinding—had worn down his teeth, left him in constant pain, and made it difficult to eat. His greatest hope? To save the few teeth he had left.

Despite his fear of dental visits and the overwhelming cost of care, Christopher found something at AHCDC that changed everything: kindness.

Thanks to the gentle support of Taraney Singleton, RDH, and the calming, compassionate care of Dr. Hunter Brittain, DDS, Christopher finally felt safe. And because of the incredible generosity of Ms. Janice Hurt—founder of The Hurt Fund, which provides life-changing care for those who cannot afford it—Christopher received full treatment valued at $11,210, at no cost to him.

Today, Christopher smiles again.

When we asked him what he wanted to do next, he didn’t talk about himself. He said, “I want to give back to the dental center that helped me. I can do handyman work—or maybe plant a tree.” Then, with a grin only someone with new teeth can truly appreciate, he added:

“I think I’ll finally eat a sub sandwich.”
